The variety is a red mutation of the Clapp's Favorite pear. The tree is characterized by vigorous growth, forms a wide and loose crown, and reaches a height of about 4.5 m on vigorous rootstocks. Harvesting takes place at the end of August.
The fruits are large or very large, have a broad-ovate or pear-shaped form and thick dark red skin. The flesh is yellowish-white, fine-grained, juicy, with a dessert taste. The variety is suitable for fresh consumption and various types of processing.
The plant is self-infertile and requires pollinators such as Williams, Conference, or Beurre Bosc. The variety has average resistance to frost and diseases, in particular requiring protection against scab. It prefers fertile, moderately moist soils with a pH level of 6.2–6.7.
