The Tougard variety, also known as Calebasse Tougard, is an old variety obtained from a seedling by breeder Van Mons, which first fruited in 1847. The fruits are medium-sized and pear-shaped; the yellowish ground color of the skin is complemented by areas of rough russeting.
The fruit flesh belongs to the semi-melting category and possesses a juicy, sugary consistency and a pinkish hue. The ripening period of the variety falls in October and November.
