The pear variety «Tristan» belongs to summer varieties. Breeding of this variety was conducted at the Institute for Breeding Research on Fruit Crops (JKI) in Dresden-Pillnitz, Germany.

The fruits of the variety are characterized by high quality. The plant shows resistance to the disease scab (Venturia pyrina), however, it has a medium susceptibility to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora).
