The variety was bred in 1896. Trees are characterized by early entry into the fruiting period, high and regular yields, and high winter hardiness. Harvest time usually occurs at the end of September.

The fruits have an elongated or barrel-like shape, with a weight of 150–200 g. The thin skin changes color from greenish-yellow to yellow upon ripening and is covered with golden-brown russeting. The fruit flesh is cream-colored and aromatic.

The variety is sensitive to fire blight and has moderate resistance to pear scab. It may be damaged by the codling moth.
