Variety description

10 August 2026

VILLA PAGLIAIA is a local genetic resource recorded during the inventory of autochthonous varieties in the province of Siena. The name originates from the toponym of an estate in the Chianti Classico area, where this type of pear has been preserved in a traditional manner.

Fruits of this variety are characterized by juicy and sweet flesh with a distinct aroma. Harvesting takes place from the end of August to the beginning of September. The fruits are suitable for fresh consumption as well as for use in local culinary arts and the production of distillates.
