The Brokmal rootstock belongs to the OHF (Old Home x Farmingdale) series. Its vigor is comparable to BA 29 or BP 1 rootstocks, while the effect on the growth of grafted varieties may vary depending on climatic conditions.
Propagation of this rootstock by hardwood cuttings is difficult, but it is possible using stoolbeds (vertical layering). It has good compatibility with most pear varieties and is highly valued in breeding programs.
