The Daygon rootstock is semi-dwarfing and was obtained as a result of breeding work from Old Home × Farmingdale seedlings. It has proven resistance to fire blight, pear decline, and pear psylla.
The plant is highly compatible with major commercial pear varieties and contributes to good productivity and fruit size. Due to the technological difficulties of traditional propagation, the in vitro method is the preferred method for obtaining planting material.
