The tree is vigorous, forms a well-shaped crown, and has a tendency for intense root sucker production. The variety is self-incompatible and propagates well from hardwood cuttings. The plant's value is due to its high resistance to fire blight and pear decline.
The fruits are medium to large in size and resemble the Beurre d'Anjou variety in appearance. The flesh is white, fine, buttery, and free of stone cells. Due to the low eating quality of the fruits, the variety has practically no commercial value as a dessert fruit and is used in modern fruit growing as a rootstock.
