The rootstock was developed at the Geisenheim Research Center. It possesses excellent compatibility with most pear varieties, making it an alternative to seedling rootstocks and quince, especially in conditions where quince shows incompatibility or tolerates soil characteristics poorly.
Trees on this rootstock enter into fruiting in the 2–4th year after planting. The rootstock is characterized by resistance to waterlogging, high carbonate content in the soil, and iron chlorosis. It demonstrates good winter hardiness and moderate resistance to fire blight.
The growth vigor of grafted trees is about 50–70% of the size of trees on seedling rootstocks; however, depending on growing conditions and the scion, the rootstock can perform as a medium-sized one.
