Variety description

A slow-growing evergreen shrub with a dense, rounded crown. By 10 years of age, it reaches a height of 1.2–1.5 m. Dark green, narrow-obovate leaves 8–11 cm long, as well as young shoots and buds, are covered with yellowish-gray or white tomentose pubescence on the underside.

The flowers are funnel-shaped, deep violet-red in color, often with red-orange spotting on the upper petal. The inflorescences are dense, consisting of 8–12 flowers. Flowering is abundant, occurs in June, and lasts about three weeks.

The variety has high winter hardiness, withstanding frosts down to –34°C. It is sensitive to exposure to the spring sun, which requires planting in sheltered semi-shaded or shaded areas. It does not tolerate stagnant water in the soil.
