The variety belongs to the Rhododendron simsii group. The plant is a compact, medium-sized shrub, reaching 1–1.5 meters at maturity. The foliage is deep green, and the flowers are large, double, and of a bright pink-violet shade, often hiding the foliage during flowering.
The plant is versatile, suitable for pot cultivation, indoor growing, as well as for creating borders or planting in shaded areas of the garden. Flowering occurs from late winter to spring, with a possible repeat flush. It prefers acidic, well-drained soils and partial shade.
