The variety is an evergreen shrub with a wide crown that becomes denser with sufficient light. The plant's leaves are large, leathery, shiny, and dark green, reaching 15–20 cm in length.
Funnel-shaped flowers with a diameter of 5–7 cm are gathered in dense conical inflorescences of 14–18 pieces each. Flowering occurs in May–June. The plant is sensitive to drought and waterlogging in the soil; when grown in the shade, the crown may lose its decorative shape.
