Variety description

The variety is a hybrid of Rhododendron Hot Tropic and Rhododendron saxifragoides. The plant is a compact, dense shrub, forming a mound approximately 60 by 60 cm in size. The leaves are narrow, elliptical, dark green in color with scales on the underside.

The flowers are of a red-pink or coral-red shade, have a funnel-shaped bell form, and are located on long red pedicels, 2–3 per inflorescence. The variety is capable of repeat flowering, producing up to three flushes of bloom per year.

The plant belongs to the tropical Vireya rhododendron group and is not frost-hardy. It requires bright, indirect light, well-drained acidic soil, and protection from waterlogging. In cool climates, it is grown exclusively in containers and moved indoors for the winter period.
