10 August 2026
Evergreen shrub with a compact, well-branched crown. The plant height after 10 years is 120–140 cm with a similar width. Leaves are elliptical in shape, olive-green in color, with a glossy or matte surface.
Flowers 5.5–7 cm in diameter are collected in dome-shaped or spherical inflorescences. The color changes during flowering: young flowers are pink-purple with a light center, mature ones are light yellow with orange-red spots on the upper petal.
The flowering period occurs from late May to mid-June. The variety is frost-hardy, withstanding temperature drops down to -24 °C. The plant requires acidic, moderately moist, and permeable soils. It is assumed to have a genetic origin from Rhododendron wardii hybrids.
