The plant is a small shrub 120–180 cm in width. Flowering occurs in May-June; the flowers have a green-red tint. The variety is winter hardy and prefers sunny or semi-shaded areas with nutrient-rich, permeable soil.

The black berries have a sweet-sour taste and ripen starting in July. The variety is characterized by high self-fertility and resistance to fruit drop. The crop is used as a fruit-bearing plant for fresh consumption and processing, as well as an ornamental honey plant.
