The Rosenthals Schwarze variety, also known by the names Rosenthals Schwarze Langtraubige and Rosenthals Langtraubige Schwarze, is a winter-hardy plant 100–120 cm in height. The variety name indicates the presence of long fruit clusters.
The plant is susceptible to viral diseases, in particular the blackcurrant reversion virus, upon infection with which the variety demonstrates a significant decrease in yield. The variety is traditionally used in scientific research to study plant interactions with insects and pathogens.
