Tayberry group plants form spreading bushes with powerful, flexible stems reaching lengths of 2–5 meters. Due to a lack of lodging resistance, a trellis is necessary for cultivation.
Varieties of the group belong to early maturity groups. The berries have an elongated shape, large size (3–5 cm in length, 5–10 g in weight), and change color from bright red to dark purple and burgundy-violet upon ripening. The taste of the berries combines characteristics of raspberry and blackberry.
The crop is characterized by moderate winter hardiness and good resistance to diseases and pests. A detailed botanical description of the 'Buckwick' form as a separate breeding achievement is absent in open databases; the name may be used as a synonym within the cultivar group.
