The tree has a fairly straight trunk, widely spaced branches, and lateral shoots that curve upward. Annual shoots are olive-green or brown in color. Leaves are lanceolate, 7.5–9 cm long, light green on top and bluish-green or felt-white underneath, turning yellow in autumn.

Flowering occurs in April-May with yellow catkins. The plant tolerates short-term flooding and air pollution, prefers moist or very moist conditions, and adapts to peat, clay, and sandy soils. Winter hardiness corresponds to zones 4A–8B.

The variety is used in the landscaping of streets, parks, industrial zones, and rural areas, and has also been used in experimental plantings of energy willow for biomass production.
