The variety belongs to the "Géante Noire de Russie" type and is also known by the names "Duplex" or "Géante Noire de Russie". The plant forms smooth roots 60–120 cm long during the flowering period, which occurs in the second year of life. In cultivation, it is grown as an annual or biennial plant.
When sown in spring from March to May, the harvest matures by September–October. The root vegetables are distinguished by a delicate taste, they are consumed boiled, and young leaves are used in salads. The roots are suitable for long-term storage in the ground under cover or in sand; when handling them, the use of gloves is recommended due to the staining sap.
