The Obsbolwi variety, known under the commercial name Obsession, is a compact evergreen shrub. By the age of 10, the plant reaches about 1 m in height and 1.2 m in width. Skimmia has simple fragrant leaves and forms terminal inflorescences of creamy white flowers in May-June.

Shiny red berries form on female plants. A characteristic feature is the simultaneous presence of last year's berries and new flower buds on the bush. Skimmia is a dioecious plant, which requires planting male and female specimens for cross-pollination and fruit formation.

The plant is used in landscape design for growing in open field or containers. To maintain shape and ensure crown ventilation, the variety requires regular pruning.
