Tubers have an oval-oblong shape, ranging from medium to large size, with shallow eyes. The flesh is purple, and light rings or spots may be present when cut. The variety is known by many synonyms, such as Purple Congo, Blaue Schweden, and Black Russian.
The variety belongs to the mid-late maturity group. The flesh is characterized as starchy and crumbly when boiled. From an agronomic point of view, susceptibility to common scab is noted.
