The variety Pilica is very late in its maturity group and belongs to the starchy varieties intended for industrial processing. Its origin is linked to the breeding line 55.957/54 x Z-49493, developed at the Zamarte experimental station.
In agronomic studies, the variety demonstrates one of the lowest rates of yield increase under supplementary irrigation. Tuber quality is characterized by stability during storage, though an increased susceptibility to mechanical damage is noted.
Resistance to fungal and bacterial diseases is assessed at an average level, ranging from 4–6 points on a 9-point scale.
