The Kragujevcanka 56 variety was developed at the Center for Small Grains in the city of Kragujevac. It was widely used in the agricultural production of Yugoslavia and served as an object in breeding programs for improving wheat resistance to diseases.
In scientific research, the variety is characterized as susceptible to powdery mildew and was often used as a parental form in crosses with resistance gene donors. Upon Fusarium infection, the variety demonstrates significant yield losses.
