The variety is used in breeding experiments as a reference sample when studying resistance to viral diseases, in particular wheat dwarf virus. Its genetic resistance to fungal infections, including Fusarium head blight, leaf rust, and stem rust, is also being studied.

Scientific publications mentioning the variety cover issues of phytopathology, genetic mapping of resistance traits, and the effect of elevated atmospheric CO2 levels on plant susceptibility to diseases.
