The vines have high vigor and long internodes. Clusters are large, pyramidal, and often loose. Berries are small, round, dark blue in color with a thick waxy bloom and thick skin. The variety's yield is characterized as low to moderate.

The variety is resistant to powdery mildew, downy mildew, grey mold, and water stress. It is used for the production of high-quality red wines with intense color, complex aromas of black fruits and spices, and soft tannins. The wines have good aging potential.
