Variety description

The variety has moderate vine vigor and bisexual flowers. Leaves are predominantly five-lobed and of medium size. Clusters are medium or small, conical in shape, and often branched. Berries are medium-sized, rounded, and acquire a greenish-yellow color with a golden-brown hue upon ripening; the skin is thin.

The variety belongs to the mid-to-late maturity group and is demanding regarding growing conditions, preferring well-lit slopes with poor, stony soils. Yield is typically low and requires control. The variety exhibits sensitivity to climatic fluctuations and is susceptible to certain diseases.

Wines made from Marsanne are characterized by good structure and moderate acidity. The aromatic profile contains shades of peach, melon, jasmine, and honeysuckle, and with aging, notes of honey, almond, and wax develop.
