The variety is a subject of ampelographic studies and genetic diversity analysis. There is scientific data assessing the susceptibility of this variety to diseases such as downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola) and powdery mildew (Erysiphe necator).

The name MARFAL is sometimes erroneously associated with the variety Maréchal Foch, however, it is an independent Spanish variety. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including exact ripening times or morphological growth parameters, are not presented in publicly available reference sources.
