Sheegene-20
ActiveVitis vinifera L. · Common grape vine
TIMOTHY SHEEHAN
10 August 2026
The variety is native to the Catalonia and Valencia regions. Historically widespread at the beginning of the 20th century, it went through a period of acreage reduction and is currently being actively restored by local wineries.
The plant belongs to the late maturity group. The variety possesses high drought tolerance and the ability to adapt to high temperatures, which allows for its successful cultivation under changing climate conditions.
MANDO is used exclusively in winemaking, both for single-varietal wines and in blends. The wines are characterized by a balanced taste, floral aromatics, and notes of underbrush, licorice, and spices. Both aging in oak barrels and methods using clay amphorae are employed during vinification.
