The varieties of the group have a medium or medium-late ripening period and are characterized by medium vine vigor with a perfect flower type. Clusters are predominantly medium, cylindrical or conical in shape. Berries are medium or small, dark blue in color with a thick waxy bloom and varying skin thickness.

The plants have medium or good yields, requiring quality control. Resistance to diseases depends on the specific biotype: for example, the di Basilicata variety possesses resistance to powdery mildew and grey mold. The varieties are sensitive to high air humidity.

The grapes are used in winemaking for the production of red, rosé, dessert, and sparkling wines, as well as for the appassimento method. In blends, wines from this variety acquire notes of cherry, plum, and rose, gaining additional softness, structure, and color intensity.
