The genetic nature of the variety is linked to somatic mutations, in which a variety with white berries acquires a pinkish or reddish hue, which is reflected in the name Blanca Roja. The variety is specialized and local, so detailed agronomic descriptions in open sources are absent.

This grape belongs to the Malvasia family, which is historically characterized by demanding growing conditions and susceptibility to diseases. In Spain, the variety is officially authorized for wine production, in particular within the DOP Pla de Bages region.
