The variety is a member of the Pinot family, characterized by medium vine vigor and early ripening. Leaves are medium or large in size, three-lobed. Clusters are medium, weighing 100–110 g, dense, and cylindrical in shape. Berries are medium or small, round, greenish-white in color with a golden hue.

The plant is noted for high and stable yields, and canes have good wood maturation. The variety is relatively frost-resistant, however, it is susceptible to major fungal diseases, such as powdery mildew and gray mold, due to the dense structure of the cluster.

Pinot blanc is intended exclusively for winemaking. It is used to produce dry, sparkling, and dessert wines with notes of apple, almond, pear, and flowers. The variety is often used in blends, and historically, due to its external resemblance, it was often confused with Chardonnay.
