A mid-ripening variety originating from the Languedoc region. It is a mutation of the ancient Terret variety. The plants are vigorous, however, they are highly susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and the European grapevine moth (Lobesia botrana).

The grapes are used in winemaking to create varietal wines or blends, distinguished by high acidity, neutral taste, and aromas of citrus, stone fruits, and herbaceous notes. Historically, the variety was also used for the production of vermouth and distillates.
