The variety is a natural genetic mutation of the red variety Tempranillo. Genetically, it is 97.8% identical to its parent, however, it differs externally in having smaller leaves, bunches, and berries, as well as less pubescence and stiffness of the foliage. The berries have a round, slightly flattened shape.

The plant belongs to early varieties and is characterized by late bud break. Yield is average, with many small bunches forming. The variety possesses resistance to drought and wind, is adapted to poor and stony soils, but is sensitive to high temperatures, acariosis, and Lobesia botrana.

The grapes are used exclusively in winemaking. The resulting wines possess high acidity, including a high content of malic acid, and good alcohol potential. The aromatic profile includes floral notes, hints of citrus, tropical fruits, apples, and pears.
