The variety is characterized by slow vegetative development. Its main morphological feature is a late ripening period: berries reach optimal maturity at the end of October or early November, which allows for avoiding overripeness during hot seasons.

Wine from this variety is characterized by full-bodiedness, moderate alcohol content, and pronounced spicy, peppery notes. The specific aroma is due to a high content of the natural compound rotundone. The variety is used exclusively in winemaking both for producing varietal wines and in blends.
