Veltlínské červené is a vigorous vine with medium to large five-lobed leaves. The berries acquire a reddish hue upon ripening. The variety is highly productive and is recommended for cultivation on poor soils. Wines made from it are full-bodied, spicy, with good acidity and nutty notes.

Veltlínské červené rané is the result of a natural cross between Veltlínské červené and Sylvaner. The variety is characterized by vigorous growth, large light-colored leaves, and large, dense bunches with red berries. It is noted for low resistance to frost and diseases, prefers dry, stony soils, and is used to create light wines and blends.
