Variety description

The variety is an independent cultivar and is not a color mutation of the "Verdejo" variety. In literature, it is also found under the synonym "Pedral". The plant is characterized by a late ripening period of berries with colored skin.

The grapes are susceptible to downy mildew and phomopsis cane and leaf spot, but possess tolerance to drought conditions. It is used primarily in winemaking, often in blends, to produce wines with moderate alcohol content and intense color.

Currently, the variety is under observation by breeding programs aimed at preserving local genetic diversity and restoring rare grape cultivars.
