The variety has medium vigor with a semi-erect growth habit. Leaves are medium-sized, five-lobed, moderately incised, with a closed petiole sinus. Bunches are medium-sized, often winged, compact or semi-compact. Berries are medium-sized, round, greenish-yellow, with thick skin.

Verdicchio belongs to late or mid-late ripening varieties with consistent but moderate yields. The variety shows drought tolerance but is susceptible to powdery mildew and Botrytis cinerea. Due to the fragility of the bunches, the variety is poorly adapted to full mechanical harvesting.

Wines from this variety are distinguished by high natural acidity and aging potential. Young wines possess aromas of citrus, green apple, and almond, while aged ones acquire honey and waxy notes.
