The Portuguese variety Verdelho is characterized by weak to moderate vine vigor, dense tomentum on the shoot tip, and medium, rounded, slightly lobed leaves. Bunches are small or medium, berries are oval-shaped, greenish-yellow with a golden hue. This is a mid-late ripening wine grape variety, susceptible to powdery mildew and Botrytis.

The Spanish variety Verdejo is a late-ripening wine grape variety used for the production of aromatic dry white and sparkling wines, possessing high acidity. The Italian regional variety Verdello, found in the Orvieto area, is a late variety used in blends to provide freshness, susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and Botrytis.
