Variety description

10 August 2026

Genetically, the variety is the result of a natural crossing of Savagnin Blanc with an unknown parent. Bud break occurs three days after Chasselas, and ripening takes place 2.5 weeks after it. Shoots have a semi-erect growth habit.

The leaves of the variety are rounded and deeply cut, visually resembling those of Chardonnay. Clusters are small or medium and are characterized by compactness. Berries are small, round or ellipsoidal, with moderately thick skin and juicy flesh.

The variety demonstrates low resistance to downy mildew and moderate resistance to grey mold, while also noting its ability to adapt to hot and cold conditions. Traditionally, the variety is grown using the gobelet training system.

The grapes are used for the production of full-bodied, 'warm' white wines suitable for aging. The variety is capable of accumulating a high level of sugar, but at the end of ripening, it is prone to a sharp decrease in acidity. The aromatic profile of the wines includes notes of quince, pear, cherry plum, candied fruit, anise, and sesame.
