The variety has many synonyms, including Verdosilla, Verdoncho de Valencia, Verdeja, and others. The purpose of the variety is winemaking; it is often used in blends to provide freshness and fruit aromas to wines, as well as for creating varietal wines. Wines from Verdil possess high acidity and notes of lemon, lime, green apple, peach, as well as herbaceous and floral nuances.

The plant belongs to the early maturity group. Morphologically, it is characterized by medium-sized bunches and small, spherical, golden-yellow berries. The variety is difficult to cultivate, poorly tolerates heat and humidity, and therefore shows the best results at elevations of 600–650 meters above sea level. Currently, the variety is considered rare and occupies insignificant planting areas.
