The variety has a rounded, slightly to moderately lobed leaf and a hermaphroditic flower. Clusters are medium-sized, cylindrical, dense or medium-dense. Berries are small, round, golden-colored, with a thin bloom. Yield is high.
The variety is not frost-hardy, susceptible to downy mildew and gray mold, but shows resistance to powdery mildew. Wines made from Albana are characterized by a golden color, pronounced acidity, structure, and intense fruit aroma, sometimes exhibiting tannin.
