The variety has medium vine vigor and hermaphroditic flowers. The leaves are medium-sized, round or wedge-shaped, three- or five-lobed. The clusters are medium to medium-small in size, compact, and cylindrical-pyramidal in shape. The berries are medium-sized, spheroidal, with greenish-yellow skin and a waxy bloom.

Arneis reaches maturity in the medium or late period; harvest occurs in September. The variety is demanding of growing conditions, prefers light sandy soils and southern slopes, and is susceptible to powdery mildew. Yield depends on growing conditions and is often low.

Wines from this variety are characterized as full-bodied, with moderate acidity and aromas of pear, apricot, peach, white flowers, hazelnut, and herbs.
