The variety is a Portuguese wine grape for the production of white wines. Its origin and genetic connections are currently insufficiently studied and are often classified as unknown.
The variety has a large number of synonyms, such as Alvaro de Soire, Alvaro de Sousa, Boal, Boal Cachudo, Dona Branca, and Graciosa. Because of this, confusion is possible with other local Portuguese varieties that have similar names.
