The variety is natural rather than bred, and it is most often mentioned in genetic studies in the context of its influence on the origin of other Croatian varieties. The red-skinned variety Bratkovina Crvena is a distinct variety and is not identical to Bratkovina Bijela.
In winemaking, the variety is used as a wine grape; however, due to its rare use for the production of single-varietal wines, it is more often found in blends. Detailed agronomic characteristics, including maturity, vigor, or disease resistance, are not presented in open scientific sources.
