The variety is the result of a natural crossing of the Vugava and Plavac Mali varieties and originates from the Dalmatia region in Croatia. The grapes are characterized by high disease resistance and serve as a base for the production of wines with low acidity levels, including Prošek dessert wine.

A technical variety that can rarely be used as a table grape. The variety has numerous synonyms, such as Glavinuša, Okatac, and Pavišak, and is grown in limited quantities within the framework of biodiversity conservation programs in the Dalmatian hinterland and on the islands of Šolta and Vis.
