The Calop blanco variety originates from the Andalusia and Extremadura regions, is genetically identical to the Beba variety, and is a product of natural crossbreeding of the Hebén variety. It is traditionally used as a table grape.
The plant belongs to late-maturing grape varieties with a bisexual flower type. The bunches are characterized as medium-sized, cylindro-conical, often with a wing, and vary from medium to loose in density. The berries are medium-sized; there is also a color mutation of the variety known as Calop rojo.
