Variety description

The variety is a natural hybrid of Visparola and an unknown variety; it has no genetic relationship with Carcajolo noir. The plant has hermaphroditic flowers and dark green, deeply incised leaves with five, seven, or nine lobes; pubescence on the underside of the leaf is weak or absent.

Bunches are large, cylindrical, and dense. Berries are medium-sized, white in color, round in shape, and covered with a thick waxy bloom. The variety shows best productivity in a hot and dry climate, but is characterized by susceptibility to powdery mildew and grey mold.

Wines from this variety are characterized by low sugar accumulation potential, moderate or low alcohol content, and high acidity. In official catalogs, the variety is known by the synonyms Bariadorgia, Alvarega, and Carcajolu biancu.
