The name Cibib has Arabic roots and is most often used in Croatia and Mediterranean regions as a synonym for Muscat of Alexandria. The variety is considered one of the oldest, with the Eastern Mediterranean cited as its place of origin.

The variety is dual-purpose and is used as table grapes, for drying into raisins, and for the production of a wide range of wines, including dessert and fortified wines. In terms of maturity group, it is classified as late; it tolerates heat and drought well.

The berries are characterized by a pronounced muscat aroma with notes of citrus, apricot, and flowers. The clusters of the variety are typically large and loose. Overall, the plant is long-lived and sufficiently hardy in conditions of a hot, sunny climate.
