Dertonija is not an independent variety, but acts as a synonym for the wine grape variety Dimyat. Genetic studies have confirmed that this variety is a descendant of Gouais Blanc and another as yet unidentified grape variety.
The variety is used in winemaking, and the wines produced from it possess distinct floral and fruity notes. The main cultivation zones of the variety are concentrated in Bulgaria, predominantly in the Black Sea regions and in the eastern lowlands.
