Doux d'Henry N. is a technical autochthonous variety from the Piedmont region. The plant is characterized by vigorous growth and is classified as a mid-season or mid-late variety. The flower is functionally female, requiring the presence of pollinator varieties. The variety is prone to flower/berry drop and bunch rachis necrosis (bunch wilting), which leads to unstable yields, and the thin skin of the berries makes it sensitive to grey mold.
Leaves are medium-sized, three- or five-lobed, with characteristic white pubescence on young shoots. Bunches are medium to large, conical in shape, often with pronounced wings. Berries are blue-black, spherical, covered with a bloom. The variety is the result of a natural crossing of the Moissan variety with an unknown partner.
Wine from this variety turns out light, fresh, ruby-red in color with floral notes, intended for early consumption. In rare cases, the variety can be used as a table grape. Due to agrotechnical difficulties, the variety is more common in blends than in varietal wines.
